Madagaskar

Madagascar, with its special flora and fauna, is a great island to visit. The island has a turbulent history and have to deal with many natural disasters. Poverty is a very big issue here. You see how people live, but also the infrastructure. The asphalt roads that exist are in poor condition. This makes travel intensive and some places are difficult to reach. Hotels are getting better, but sometimes they are very basic. What's special is that people, although poverty, very creatively deal with the resources they have. People are friendly and curious. The French and the Asians have made a big mark on the kitchen here. The food is delicious.
As said the flora and fauna is special. There are many endemic species living there. Every environment has its own Lemurs type. We have done many hikes & trackings and spotted many animals. From the largest lemur the Indris, who you can hear calling in the morning, the Golden bamboolemur to the aye-aye. Ok, it was not the most beautiful but it is very special to see. On the island there are many different types of chameleons. We saw the rare fossa, one of the few predators on Madagascar. And after a lot of searching, we have seen a number of them; the giraffe beetle.
In short, Madagascar is a unique island. There is a lot to discover.
